Welcome Back

  • Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new school year at Mission View High School (MVHS). The staff at MVHS looks forward to helping students unlock their true potential. We focus on preparing students for success after graduation.

Our small campus is designed for a lower student to teacher ratio so that students can benefit from a focused academic environment. Our teachers are very experienced in their subject areas and have a great rapport with our student population. The guidance counselor makes sure that each student has an appropriate class schedule and offers support along the way. Extended instruction is available to our students at “Breakfast Club” on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students will be fed a freshly cooked breakfast and receive extra academic support. Many students come to our campus to make up credits with a plan to return to their comprehensive high school to graduate with their class. However, it is no surprise that, once students experience the learning environment at MVHS, they decide to stay and graduate here. This is also because they clearly understand the following school wide expectations:

    Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance.

    • Attend school every day, Monday through Friday
    • Arrive on time to access the curriculum and avoid interventions.

Academics: Steady progress toward graduation and evidence of serious intent.

    • Work daily in all classes.
    • Earn 25 credits per quarter.
    • Make continuous and steady progress toward graduation.

Attitude: Always display appropriate citizenship and behavior on campus or at school events.

    • No behavior referrals.
    • No suspensions.

These best practices encourage and hold students accountable in completing their required credits as soon as possible. I have an open-door policy where students and parents are always welcome to contact me via email (christopher.prescott@alvordschools.org), video conference, on the phone, or in person. Thank you for choosing ACHS to meet your student’s academic goals. On behalf of the MVHS staff, we wish your students the very best in this coming 2023-2024 school year!
