Classified Open Enrollment: August 22-August 29

  • This is your opportunity to make a change to your benefits without experiencing a qualifying even. During Open Enrollment, you can:

    • Add or drop dependents
    • Switch plans
    • Enroll in coverage
    • Drop Coverage*


    All changes made will be effective October 1, 2019.


    For the 2019-2020 plan year, there will be no change to benefit coverages or active employee costs. Members enrolled in Retiree Benefits will receive updated rate information via mail. 


    In order to participate, please complete the appropriate forms below and submit them, along with verification of dependents, to the Benefits Departmnet by no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29. Incomplete forms, late forms, or enrollments missing dependent verification documents will not be processed.


    If you are not making any changes you do not need to participate in Open Enrollment. 


    A Benefits Representative will be available in the District Office Board Room on the below dates for questions, assistance completing enrollment forms, and additional information:

    • Monday, August 26 from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, August 28 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

    What types of Dependent Verification Documents are required?


    To add a child: A copy of the county issued birth or adoption certificate OR court issued guardianship documentation. 

    To add a spouse: A copy of the most recent tax return listing you and your spouse. If you do not file jointly, you must complete an affidavit of marriage AND provide a copy of the county issued marriage certificate. If you are newly married and have not yet filed taxes with your new spouse, only a copy of the county issued marriage certificate is required. NO affidavit is required.

    To add a Domestic Partner: A copy of the Certificate of Registered Domestic Partnership. Domestic Partners are only eligible dependents on the plan when part of a same sex partnership OR opposite sex with at least one pary being age 62 or older. Please note: Deductions for a Domestic Partner must be taken on an after-tax basis (FTB Pub 737).


    What forms do I need to complete?


    To enroll in a Kaiser plan, complete: California Region Kaiser Permanente Group Enrollment Form AND 2019-2020 AUSD Election Form

    To enroll in a Non-Kaiser plan, complete: SISC III Enrollment Form AND 2019-2020 AUSD Election Form

     To make a change to your plan/dependents/drop coverage*, complete: SISC III Membership Change Form AND 2019-2020 AUSD Election Form


    *Only employees working 7.25 hours per day or less are eligible to decline coverage, with proof of other coverage.
