SECTION 11: STAYING CONNECTED/GETTING INVOLVED
Is the Mobile APP an effective tool to stay connected?
It's a very effective tool. It's simple to use and has everything all in one place, including access to the web page, Aeries portals, ClassDojo, Google Classroom, Distance Learning, an event calandar by school, our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds, and much more. Downpoad it at the Apple Store of Google Play.
How can I stay connected and informed?
First and foremost stay connected with your teacher(s) and your principal. They connect you to us. Follow your school on social media and keep your contact information current so that you do not miss important announcements.
Why am I not receiving communication notifications and announcements?
Usually it's because phone numbers and email addresses are not up-to-date. Use your Aeries account (see below) to keep critical contact information current. Email the Student Information System team here with your questions.
What are the benefits to having an Aeries parent/student portal account?
There are many benefits. Your Aeries parent portal account can be used to update/add contact information and preference, view student grades, access report card, test scores, view missing assignments, transcript, class schedule, and other student related information. Most parents access their accounts regularly. If you need a refresher on how to create and update contact information in Aeries, visit this page.
How can I follow the district on social media?
Visit our web site regularly. Download the Alvord mobile APP. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter @alvordunified. Make sure your information in Aeries is accurate to ensure you’re receiving updates from the district and your school. If you need help with Aeries, email for support here.
How can students and parents share their concerns regarding school closures?
The most recent Thought Exchange was launched on March 26 and is open until April 3. You were sent the link via email on March 26. And there will many more exchanges opened moving forward. ThoughtExchange crowdsourcing technology collects thoughts and reveals themes and interests that emerge from the input. It is a great opportunity for us to learn how we can better serve students.
Or, email your questions and concerns to the Superintendent here.
Will parents have access to the District Office?
Yes. While the district office and all schools are closed to foot traffic, we are open to serve you. Please call (951) 509-5000or email. Everyone is working remotely to serve you.
