ALVORD USD REOPENING PLAN ANNOUNCED
2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR OPENS AUGUST 10: HYBRID OR FULL DISTANCE
A Message from the Superintendent
July 10, 2020
Dear Alvord Family,
On Thursday, July 9, 2020, the Alvord Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the Reopening School Plan for the 2020-21 school year.
Families in AUSD will choose between two models: (1) Hybrid, a blend of in-person and distance learning with no more than 50% of our students present on campus at any given time; and (2) Full Distance, with no in-person instruction, fully remote. The choice is yours. Regardless of the choice families make, students can participate in all extra-curricular activities such as sports, marching band, etc..., when the time comes that those activities become available.
Alvord's governance team recognizes it's a personal decision based on many, many factors, including your level of comfort with the models. We are pleased to be able to offer our families a choice. Look for a survey this coming week asking you to decide so we can plan ahead. Every family must decide one way or the other for planning and staffing purposes.
View a slide show of the presentation on our web site here: https://www.alvordschools.org/Page/12327. I will have a video presentation from last night's meeting posted on our web site as well, in English and Spanish, hopefully by the end of day today.
On Sunday, in my weekly message, I will provide details as well as answers to the many questions the Board of Education, staff, and I have received since the decision was made last night. Please look for it on Sunday night as usual, at 6:00 pm.
