Wells School Library Naming
Within each school, the following facilities or grounds may be named for individuals who meet the criteria listed under Board Policy 7310 and Administrative Regulation 7310.
Staff, community members, or groups wishing to propose an entity or individual and the facility to be named in his or her honor shall submit the proposal in writing to the Superintendent. The proposal must provide information in support of the appropriateness of the individual and the facility including verification of each of the criteria:
- Honoree can be living or deceased.
- Honoree's contributions to Alvord USD schools must be examined by its enduring nature and lasting significance, real, or symbolic.
- Incumbent Board members are ineligible.
It is the responsibility of those proposing the naming of a facility to provide verifiable evidence of a reasonable level of support for the name.
Decisions to name a facility or grounds shall not be made under circumstances which involve emotion or pressure growing out of a recent event. At least two years must have elapsed following the death or retirement of an individual before that person is eligible for consideration by the Board of Education.
All submitted proposals meeting the above standards will be submitted to the Board of Education by the Superintendent.
