I hope all members of our Alvord family are healthy and well.

There are 4 days remaining in the school year. While COVID school cases have trended downward since the winter surge, there has been a spike in cases the last few weeks, in our schools, the region, the state, and the nation. With the rise in positive cases, our principals and their teams are still planning traditional year-end events this last week of school, but we are doing so cautiously. We don't want anyone to miss out on the activities and events celebrating their children's accomplishments. All of our staff, children, and their families should be able to fully and safely participate and enjoy these important occasions.

Please be reminded that the California Department of Public Health still strongly recommends masking and other safety measures. As we conduct more school-ending events, exposure increases. Anyone at high risk of severe illness or who may share a home or care for someone at a higher risk of severe illness should talk to their healthcare provider about wearing a mask and taking other precautions.

We will continue with the following safety and prevention measures:

    • Utilize home health-screening to keep all contagious illnesses away from school campuses.
    • Utilize our COVID Help Center to contact-trace and work closely with County public health officials to support schools and families.
    • Provide free home-testing kits to students in quarantine or modified quarantine.
    • Provide free PCR and rapid COVID-testing at the Arlanza Public Library for anyone who wants to test.
    • Socially distance, whenever possible and as necessary.
    • Provide personal protective equipment (PPE), as necessary.
    • Disinfect all classrooms and campuses nightly using the Clorox® Total 360® System electrostatic sprayer.
    • Follow best respiratory hygiene practices in classrooms and on campuses.
    • Utilize air scrubbers in classrooms and other campus spaces to provide clean air at the source using medical-grade HEPA filtration.
    • Utilize hands-free water fountains.
    • Utilize plexiglass table shields and barriers in common spaces such as office spaces, cafeterias, and where staff congregate, when and if we are unable to socially distance.

The COVID Help Center will continue to provide support to schools and families, including distributing test kits. Call 951 509 5014 or email COVIDhelp@alvordschools.org if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you to all of our families for partnering with us during this difficult time. Let's continue to work together to finish the school year in a manner that sets our students up for future success.

    Stay healthy. Be well.
