It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year at Hillcrest High School! Last school year was an unprecedented one in the history of our educational system. In reaction to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Hillcrest was closed to normal activity on March 16, 2020. Now, we are preparing for the reopening of our school through distance and virtual learning. We have appreciated your assistance, patience and grace as we have prepared over the summer for the upcoming school year. Our promise to you is that we will do everything in our power to provide the best possible educational experience for your child while we continue to work through the impacts of the COVID pandemic.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, our District has provided Chromebooks to all of our students to begin the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to provide educational technology professional development for our staff to prepare our students for this 21st-century learning environment and develop our students to be prepared for a tech-laden work setting after high school. We are excited about building upon our successes academically, athletically, and continuing our positive influence in the community. During this school year, we will continue to focus on our 2020 WASC Action Plan as we continue to review data to evaluate, revise and refine our instruction to ensure all of our students are performing at their highest academic levels.
We encourage you to continue to check your email and telephone messages from the school and district so you are aware of the most up-to-date information for the year. Please also follow us on our social media outlets on Instagram at htrojans and on Facebook at Hillcrest High School – Riverside, CA.
In addition, you may have noticed that we have three new assistant principals joining our team this year, as our previous assistant principals have all moved on to new opportunities in the district. This year, please join me in welcoming Dr. Chad Freeman, Mr. Christopher Prescott and Mrs. Patricia Schiessel to our team. I look forward to working alongside them to create the best experience for our students, families and community. Please let us know how we may best serve you. We love our Trojan community and are looking forward to the 2020-2021 school year.
