Riverside Police Foundation Golden Badge Awards

The awards ceremony was held at the Riverside Convention Center on Saturday, September 10, 2016 and was nothing short of spectacular!  Channel 7 news anchor Rob McMillan was the evening’s master of ceremonies.  In attendance were several Riverside dignitaries and some of the city’s most prominent citizens.

The Golden Badge recipients were selected from Riverside’s 25 Most Remarkable Teens of 2016 and from those 25 students only three were chosen to be Golden Badge award recipients. All three of this year’s Golden Badge recipients were from Alvord Unified School District.  Alvord High School graduate Rene Lara Avalos and  La Sierra High School graduates Joe Munoz and Grace Guan were this year’s award recipients.  Accompanying Rene to the event was his sister, Marlen, and his cousin. Rene received the highest youth award, the Future Leader Award, and was presented with $1000 scholarship and a beautiful acrylic award with gold police badge cast inside.
